Biawak Biru (Blue Lyzard) : Used & Abused

Used & Abused, a term that had been used for automotive enthusiast to describe their cars that had been fully utilize for a certain manner. For example, daily beater, track beater, drift missile and others. So, this 510 has been an perfect example of a daily beater. Owned by a humble car tuner, called himself Bakat Zen.

This 510 has been special tuned by himself with some special recipe that had been discovered by himself, just had been into an accident while he joined a track day session with others classic cars enthusiast last month. A minor accident actually, but it still effect the alignment of the car and some panel damage on the passenger side. The car still running, but still needed some fine tuning for a little happy time while driving.

This car is really low, sits just about an inch or lower from the ground. Undercarriage scraping while crossing the speed-bumps is not really a matter for the owner. One of the nicest stance on 510 that I ever had seen before. The owner had been planned many more for this baby blue, so hoping that we can see more of this soon enough.

Project Cassie Part #2 - Along The Journey

Heyya mate! Remember my first post about Cassie? Yeah, the blue 510. So, it's been around 8 month since I first take her to my own garage. Quite a little change to her if you saw the above picture. Yup, I had changed several things to make her more attractive actually.

So, as you can see, I had changed the grill to deluxe model, not so 'new' front bonnet, ditching the front bumper, yellowed headlamps and colorful steelies. I think everyone must be upset why I had ditch the Black Racing banana with the steelies.

I think, banana type wheels is too mainstream nowadays. Sorry to say, but I cannot accept the price that had been stated for banana type wheels. Hoping to rocking up Cassie with custom widened steelies is more nicer IMHO. Anyway, there are still many things to do with Cassie. Maybe will send her to body shop for some bodywork, and if I had some extra cash, I would like to change the color of her.

If you want to know, all of the above pictures were taken with film. I think I had fall in love with film photography, love the colors and tone that film produces. So, after this you may saw other entry from me using film instead of digital. Anyway, pray the best for me and my Cassie. Hoping to make Cassie more nicer will be a success.

Project Cassie Part #1 - Introduction

Firstly, Happy New Year 2012! Hope it is not too late to wish to all Revsphotoblog readers. A blue 510? What a nice color for an old school jewel like this. Anyway, I would like to present to all of the readers, my own 510, codenamed "Cassie".

Cassie is a 71' Datsun Bluebird 510, originally powered by 1400cc L14 straight 4 engine. But, the previous owner before this had changed the engine to 1600cc L16 from 1600 SSS model. He also had change all of the dash into 69' 1600 SSS model, 68' front grill assembly and a RARE set of 1600 SSS Coupe tail light.

Rocking a set of 15 inch Black Racing banana type, twins of Watanabe with 15 x 6.5jj +21 offset all around. Already upgraded to disc brake system to all four braking system.

Lastly, I'm very glad to own one of the jewel in old school car community. Hoping that this project will be a greatest project that I had ever own one in my life. Maybe this project will be quite slow, but I will update if there are any kind of progress.

Jaguh Autoworks's KE70

Black on Black? Not everyone type of taste. But this KE70 really make an attraction to any automotive enthusiast in the world. Owned by Afif a.k.a Jaguh, one of my friends in automotive scene. Known him about 3 years or more. Saw him first time at Ammar's house, helping Ammar on his 808 dash wiring.

Before this, this KE70 was red in color with polished dished rims. But after a total makeover from him for his final year project, this black beast was reborn. Still maintaining the original engine, 4K, but with some of his own special recipe for the internals + gearbox and a welded differential for drifting purpose. All of the modification had been done by himself, as he was an automotive student before this

So, on my last visit to Kuala Lumpur, he had contact me to shoot this black beast with some different style from other shoots. Wearing a formal style suit, as for office works, but to pose it with the black beast. Just like Ken Block and Matt Powers shoot out in Speedhunters from Linhbergh.

Representing Canibeat and Fatlace, and also his own blog, Jaguh Autoworks at the rear windscreen. All of the stickers are totally legit. No fake shit here though. Anyway, if you look this beast properly, you will see a custom made roll-cage inside of this beast. For readers information, the roll-cage had been done by himself during the process in his final year project.

Although it rocking a full straight pipes with side exit, this black beast didn't sound really loud compared to other cars that using straight pipes. But it really sound nicely done.

Running a quite negative camber at the front, used for drifting purpose. All the suspension parts are done by himself, custom adjustable, custom extended lower arm, custom knuckle, custom RCA, and many more parts. If you do want any of the parts, do contact him ya!

Dress-up like a boss and posing with his black beast. Really turn up the style.

Cruising around the town with this beast, really makes others keen to ponder although just a second.

Although rocking a set of 13 inch mags wheels, this beast have a nice fitment though. Slightly slammed but still practical for Malaysian road. Really dig the fitment on this beast.

Finally, I end this up with a dramatic panning style shot. Although it quite blurry, but the effect make the picture feeling more artistic. Greetings gentlemen. Firstly, thanks to Revsphoto to give me a chance to contribute in this cool automotive kinda blog. Let me introduce myself first. Muhammad Naufal is the name, or you can call me asuramaru (my nick name) or nopa (in kelantan-malay dialect). Came from Kota Bharu the Islamic Town, Kelantan, Malaysia.

I started to love photography since high school, but my journey in photography starts in 2008. Had try many genres of photography but I just loved automotive photography the most because I love cars.

Had some experience in automotive photography and had a chance to be a media in two drift competition, FXOpen 1Malaysia Drift Series Round 1 2010 and Formula Drift Malaysia 2010. Hoping that I will have another chance to cover any motorsport event in future.

Besides that, I had also done some car photo shoots. Had done some of it with Revsphoto himself. He was really good in that. By the way i'm still learning to mastering in car photo shoot. Really loves rolling shot and rig shot mostly, but still didn't have the equipment to done that kind of shot. Those days.

The first time I start to rig my car. ahahaha. Kinda noob

I'd noticed all the things that brought the readers here are the articles of cars, from the crappy ones, to the serious one. I think i might be going much serious on writing articles about cars. And start to learn about automotive photography.

Perodua Myvi SE. A simple write ups

Mid September, I was fully mesmerized by the new car that just arrived at my house. The car that had been called as a most selling car of the year in Malaysia. The car that Mr. Jeremy Clarkson complaint a lot enough that strongly encouraged UK people not to buy it. The car that seems overpriced by looking at its style.

Its Perodua Myvi SE. The car that only good driving at town.

Interestingly, the highest spec are selling at a effingly high priced. RM 52,000.00. Those one includes all the 'standard' safety features like ABS, Airbags, and Immobilizer. Like most of the old folks would say, Good things doesn't come cheap. So here we are.

Power, ride and handling, Fuel economy, Space, equipment levels, practicality and safety are the things I want to write here, today. (hehe, try to be automotive journalist eh ariff?. hehe). Those standard things in automotive journalism are deemed to be write, to ensure a lot of people get what i want to tell and what they want to know.

Power
The Myvi 1.3 weighs 955kg and puts out 86 horsepower. That’s a power to weight ratio of 0.09 horsepower per kg. Quite powerful yeah? Powerful, if its going to match with manual transmission. Auto Transmission like mine, doesn't have enough power to overtake a car at the highway, or a moving trailer. Compared to light and flying Perodua Viva, this Myvi doesn't 'go' as I like it.

Acceleration, as they say, quite sluggish in a way, you want to overtake a car or something. But

But, it can go as fast as your typical sedan car. From 120km/h, it can rise to 160km/h in not in split second. Takes time, but what's the point of driving fast with slow-producing car characteristic isn't it?. Just waste your precious time. Better enjoy the fuel saving engine that derive from Daihatsu Boon. The K3-VE are just as nice as 1NZ-FE in Toyota Vios but power-less in a way.

Ride and Handling.
One thing i must say. UNDERSTEER. A lot. and what does sifu say about counter-ing the Understeer? Handbrake. Haha. The handling are quite good, quite responsive, easy for Makcik2 and girls to drive. But high speed handling, not good enough. Harshness and noise, are presumably good, but quite hard on the suspension

Ok, quite a simple write ups isnt it?. Ironic isn't it?. isnt it? isnt it! HAHAHA WRITERS BLOCK DAMN YOU!.
