Biawak Biru (Blue Lyzard) : Used & Abused

Used & Abused, a term that had been used for automotive enthusiast to describe their cars that had been fully utilize for a certain manner. For example, daily beater, track beater, drift missile and others. So, this 510 has been an perfect example of a daily beater. Owned by a humble car tuner, called himself Bakat Zen.

This 510 has been special tuned by himself with some special recipe that had been discovered by himself, just had been into an accident while he joined a track day session with others classic cars enthusiast last month. A minor accident actually, but it still effect the alignment of the car and some panel damage on the passenger side. The car still running, but still needed some fine tuning for a little happy time while driving.

This car is really low, sits just about an inch or lower from the ground. Undercarriage scraping while crossing the speed-bumps is not really a matter for the owner. One of the nicest stance on 510 that I ever had seen before. The owner had been planned many more for this baby blue, so hoping that we can see more of this soon enough.

Thanks, asuramaru

A Simple Meetup on 5/10, 510 Day

After a long pause with automotive photography, I had thinking to make a comeback with something nice to shoot with. So I had planned make a comeback with a quite interesting subjects. Accidently on last friday was 5th October, the Datsun 510 day. So I had gathered several dime owners to hang out for a simple meetup.

There were 4 510 including my 'Cassie', 1 910 and a KE70 on that day. What a great weather on that evening and we had a quite nice chat with each other during the meetup.

These 2 510 were most in superb condition after had been restored. Both owners had just painted their dime in around this year.

So we start with this grey 1600 510. Rocking a 1600 SSS grill, flag type fender mirror and a superb bodywork with nice paint. The owner had spend around 3 years to make this dime to look at this superb condition.

The owner, known as Lie had spend quite a money to restore this dime to this perfection. Rocking 15 inch longchamps with +15 at the front and +6 at the rear.

The stock interior had been maintained by Lie to remain the original look of this dime. I can say this is one of the best dime in Kelantan that I had ever seen before this.

So now we move to this light beige 510. 1969 coupe grill, flag type mirror & Watanabe rims. What can we ask more for a perfect restored 510?

The owner, known as Adi just bought this dime around last year and just had painted around this year. Superb bodywork, original stock interior just completed this dime with perfection!

The superb weather, nice spot and a nice dime just bring up this picture to a perfect photo!

This white 510 belongs to Imie. This dime rocking a quite rare grill called Supersonic. It was on a 1970 or 1969 510 Coupe if I not mistaken. This grill were one of the favourite among most 510 enthusiast.

Rocking the biggest size of wheel, this dime is powered by Z20 engine with twin Solex carbs.

Custom BRE style lips seriously make this white dime looked like it ready to rock the track. I also dig in the placement of the fender mirror at the door, it looked like factory fitted.

Lastly we move to this orange 910. Powered by SR20DET from S14, this 910 owned by Wess had been restored  from stock.
Rocking 17 inch Nismo LMGT2 wheels, BRE style lips and original 910 fender mirror really stands up the view of the car. If you see this car properly, you can see the front mount intercooler had been placed behind the grill. Really look like a sleeper don't you think?

Do you think black and white pictures suites to the classic cars? I think yes!

Seriously I really hope to build up my 'Cassie' back to the original condition as soon as possible to catch up with these guys. Anyway, hoping to gather much much more classic cars especially 510 after this.

Thanks, asuramaru.

Project Cassie Part #2 - Along The Journey

Heyya mate! Remember my first post about Cassie? Yeah, the blue 510. So, it's been around 8 month since I first take her to my own garage. Quite a little change to her if you saw the above picture. Yup, I had changed several things to make her more attractive actually.

So, as you can see, I had changed the grill to deluxe model, not so 'new' front bonnet, ditching the front bumper, yellowed headlamps and colorful steelies. I think everyone must be upset why I had ditch the Black Racing banana with the steelies.

I think, banana type wheels is too mainstream nowadays. Sorry to say, but I cannot accept the price that had been stated for banana type wheels. Hoping to rocking up Cassie with custom widened steelies is more nicer IMHO. Anyway, there are still many things to do with Cassie. Maybe will send her to body shop for some bodywork, and if I had some extra cash, I would like to change the color of her.

If you want to know, all of the above pictures were taken with film. I think I had fall in love with film photography, love the colors and tone that film produces. So, after this you may saw other entry from me using film instead of digital. Anyway, pray the best for me and my Cassie. Hoping to make Cassie more nicer will be a success.

Thanks, asuramaru.

What should it be?

What should it be? I should ask myself that question. It has been a long time since I update revsphoto thoroughly. So here's a little impromptu teaser on what should I update in a week.

A little shots on Naufal's 510, our very own revsphoto writer's. Should update on that.

A 2nd Oldschool gathering, my hometown very own Old School Club. Backwheel Bitches.

And the hihi haha. Red monster tearing up my workplace parking just this evening. More updates later. See you soon.

1st RevsPhoto writers meets~

Last month, I had a chance to visit both of our main writers, Revs and Atoya at Kuantan. We were having some discussion about our cars, the upcoming future for revsphotoblog and the automotive in Malaysia. I had arrived there with my trusted 510, 'Cassie'. Hoping to looking foward for next meet up.

Thanks, asuramaru~

Project Cassie Part #1 - Introduction

Firstly, Happy New Year 2012! Hope it is not too late to wish to all Revsphotoblog readers. A blue 510? What a nice color for an old school jewel like this. Anyway, I would like to present to all of the readers, my own 510, codenamed "Cassie".

Cassie is a 71' Datsun Bluebird 510, originally powered by 1400cc L14 straight 4 engine. But, the previous owner before this had changed the engine to 1600cc L16 from 1600 SSS model. He also had change all of the dash into 69' 1600 SSS model, 68' front grill assembly and a RARE set of 1600 SSS Coupe tail light.

Reppin' Jaguh Autoworks and Fatlace : Illest. Thanks to Jaguh a.k.a Afif for giving me these stickers to rep it. Really appreciate that mate.

Rocking a set of 15 inch Black Racing banana type, twins of Watanabe with 15 x 6.5jj +21 offset all around.  Already upgraded to disc brake system to all four braking system.

Reppin' JNC at both rear quarter glass.

Lastly, I'm very glad to own one of the jewel in old school car community. Hoping that this project will be a greatest project that I had ever own one in my life. Maybe this project will be quite slow, but I will update if there are any kind of progress.

Thanks, asuramaru

got bananas?

A love hate relationship between Watanabe's and Black Racing's banana style rims on both 510s. Which one would you choose?

Thanks, asuramaru

JCCS 2011 510s

Just want to share some 510s love to all readers. Really in love with my own '71 510 'cassie' right now. Hope my 'cassie' will be just like on of these. Will share to everyone when I have some time to shoot it.

Thanks, asuramaru.

showing some donuts love

Trying to doing some donuts using my 'cassie'. Looking quite good although still running open R160 diff. Anyway sorry for the low quality video, just record it via hp.

Thanks, asuramaru.

Flat Grey 510

By looking from the front mount intercooler (FMIC), we know that this 510 is powered by turbocharged engine. Yup, this 510 is really powered by a fairly known engine, SR20DET from S14. Owned by one of my oldskool car club friend, known as Pok Tek. Pok Tek had been known for many years in owning Datsun 510. This is maybe the 5th or 6th 510 that he own. One of his famous creation, a pink colored 510 CA18DET powered for a while and change it to 13B and a flat green 510 powered by L16 with twin weber DCOE 40.

This car just had been finished from a paint job when I shoot this. Before this, this monster was in black colour, but Pok Tek want to change it to flat grey because he want to make this monster different than other 510. And yet, he really dig it. Good job Pok Tek.

Still maintaining the original 69' dash, but with some modern touch like Apex'i RSM for several readings, Silvia steering rack and pinion system with the steering wheel replacing the original Datsun steering box. He also maintaining all the original interior that really rare to find for now.

Rocking the Work ASA 16 inch, with 4 pot brake in front, single pot at the back. A quite nice stance for this monster, still practical for Malaysia's road condition. Pok Tek also had treat me with a nice burnout from this monster. Quite a nice view would I say. Anyway thanks to Pok Tek for giving me a chance to shoot this monster. Hope that one day my 510 will be as perfect just like this monster.

Thanks, asuramaru.
